Day 1 - Welcome to Livingstone, Zambia

You’ll be escorted to the River Club, our intimate luxury hotel on the Zambezi River. Relax on a sunset cruise with cocktails as elephants and other wildlife descend to the river to quench their thirst. Enjoy an elegant dinner accompanied by fine South African wine. Meals D

Day 2 - Experience mighty Victoria Falls

Danger Point and Knife Edge Bridge are names that may strike you as overly dramatic now, but they capture the exhilarating views that will leave you breathless on your expertly guided tour of the Falls. Meals B+D Note: Water levels are lower from August to November and vantage points will differ.

Day 3 – Our Private Game Reserve at Kruger

Fly to Kruger, South Africa and transfer to the luxurious and very intimate Tintswalo Safari Lodge on a private game reserve. Meals B+D

Day 4 - The Thrill of Safari

Over the next two days, you’ll join our certified, expertly trained safari guides and no more than eight other guests in open Land Rovers for exciting morning and afternoon game drives. With fewer visitors and an amazing concentration of wildlife roaming the open vistas of this unspoiled private reserve, Tintswalo offers some of the most dramatic game-viewing in Southern Africa. Day 5 - Another Thrilling Day of Safari

With never more than 8 vehicles on our 64,000-acre reserve, this second day of morning and afternoon game drives again promises the utmost privacy and more heart-pounding up-close big game encounters. In addition to the Big Five, cheetah, impala, hippos and raptors are some of the animals you might encounter on the day’s morning and afternoon game drives. Guided bush walks, open decks overlooking our camp’s active watering hole, and elegant al fresco dining complete this ultimate safari experience at the Tintswalo Safari Lodge. Meals B+L+D

Day 6 - Fly to Cape Town

Fly to Cape Town where you'll be escorted to the fabulous Taj Hotel in the heart of town. Enjoy dinner and an evening at leisure. Meals B+D

Day 7 - Cape Town + Robben Island

The revolving cars of the Table Mountain Cableway ensure amazing 360° views as you make the ascent! Then trace Cape Town’s rich multi-cultural history from its seafaring early days to the end of Apartheid as we show you the city’s important sites and landmarks. Experienced island guides, some of whom were once inmates, promise a stirring and inspiring experience as you tour Robben Island. Meals B+L

Day 8 - The Cape Peninsula

Navigating the 114 curves of Chapman’s Peak is hailed as one of the world’s most spectacular drives! Along with the amazing scenery, you’ll discover the flora + fauna and charming coastal villages of the Peninsula as we take you all the way to the Cape Point Lighthouse on historic False Bay. Return to Cape Town for lunch. Meals B+L

Day 9 - Excursion into the Cape Winelands

Travel into the Winelands to explore Franschhoek, founded by French Huguenots 300 years ago. Cellar tours and wine tastings at two local vineyards include the esteemed Haute Cabriere Estate where you’ll join the owner for a Sabrage – the opening of a bottle of Cap Classique with a sword! Enjoy a free evening back in Cape Town. Meal B+L

Day 10 - Grootbos Private Nature Reserve

See the penguin colony at Stony Point and learn about the region’s Fynbos eco-system as you continue to the Grootbos Reserve, overlooking Walker Bay in the Western Cap. After lunch, explore the reserve’s 1,000-year-old Milkwood Forest. Find out how the Grootbos Green Futures Project trains future leaders before an elegant dinner accompanied by fine wines. Day 11 - By sea and land to the end of the Continent!

Travelers of course know Africa for the Big 5, but South Africa’s Marine Big 5 (whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins) are equally spectacular! Led by our expert marine biologist, today’s thrilling expedition (weather permitting) takes you out onto the waters where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans converge. See thousands of Cape Fur Seals, look for breaching dolphins and trawl Shark Alley, home to Great Whites. From June to November, Southern Right whales are regularly spotted. Journey to Cape Agulhas at the very tip of the continent, and stop for lunch at our favorite harbor-side café before returning to our resort. You’ll have time to relax before this evening’s elegant 6-course dinner paired with fine local wines. Meals B+L+D

Day 12 – From Cape Town to Nairobi, Kenya

Return to Cape Town for your included flight to Nairobi. On arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted to the Fairmont Norfolk Hotel. Meals B

Day 13 – Fly into the Maasai Mara

Both the Giraffe Center and David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust are hailed for helping to save Rothschild giraffe, elephant and rhino, but it’s the passions that drove two families to establish these organizations that will inspire you. Dine at Tamambo Karen Blixen, set on the author’s former homestead, before flying into the Maasai Mara where big game roam in the same super-abundance that thrilled Teddy Roosevelt. You’ll be welcomed by Maasai dancers and cool eucalyptus-scented towels. At the Fairmont Mara Safari Club, unwind on your private verandah overlooking the hippo and crocodile-filled Mara River. Day 14 – Ballooning over the Maasai Mara

The sun’s rays are just beginning to flicker across the sky as you float silently above the golden game-filled expanse of the Maasai Mara, home to large herds of herbivores and their ferocious predators! After lunch, luxuriate in the ambience of the Fairmont Club before an exhilarating safari drive and another chance to spot all of the Big Five. Meals B+L+D

Day 15 – Into the Shadow of Kilimanjaro

Enjoy a morning game drive before your flight via Nairobi to Amboseli National Park. Set against the majestic silhouette of Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is heralded for its quintessentially African landscapes of open plains, rolling savanna and acacia woodlands. Spend two nights at Ol Tukai Lodge. Meals B+L+D

Day 16 – Explore Amboseli National Park

Amboseli is the best place in Africa to get close to herds of free-ranging elephants... and that is exactly what you’ll do with our safari guides. This is the day you might also check impala, lion, cheetah and zebra off your list. Meals B+L+D

Day 17 – Through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara, Tanzania

Cross the border into Tanzania for lunch in Arusha and journey across the magnificent Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park, one of the prettiest and most wildlife-rich parks in the country. Check in to the deluxe Lake Manyara Serena Lodge and enjoy a thrilling evening game drive. Be on the lookout for Manyara’s unusual tree-climbing lions that retreat into the shady branches of the umbrella tree. Meals B+L+D

Day 18 – Onward to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Set out this morning to spot the flocks of flamingos, herons and pelicans that gather on the shores of Lake Manyara; Sykes’ monkeys, olive baboons and bushbuck are also often seen. Midday finds you gazing across the world’s largest intact caldera from your luxury tent at Lemala Ngorongoro. Later, thoughtful engagement with Maasai villagers reveals the challenges and rewards of life in East Africa. Meals B+L+D Note: Travelers in May will stay at the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge

Day 19 – Down to the Crater Floor

Encircled by mountains, the open grasslands of Ngorongoro are easy for officials to patrol, resulting in healthy populations of endangered species like black rhino and cheetah. And with Lemala’s privileged access, you’ll bypass the long line of vehicles at the main entry for unmatched game-viewing on the crater floor before other visitors have even arrived. Return to camp for lunch and a relaxing afternoon. Meals B+L+D

Day 20 – Into the Serengeti

Fly into the Serengeti where you’ll be met and escorted to one of our Lemala Serengeti camps. Depending upon the season, we take you to either Lemala Ndutu or Lemala Mara. With animals constantly on the move in the inexorable quest for food and water, your camp’s strategic setting affords game-viewing at its best any time of year. This afternoon, you’ll experience first-hand why the Serengeti has earned its reputation as a safari paradise! Sundowner cocktails and an elegant candle-lit dinner are the perfect ending to the day. Day 21 – The Amazing Serengeti

The enormous variety of exotic birds, horned bovines, ungulates, wild dogs and big cats that roam the vast expanse of the Serengeti is mindboggling... and you’ll have two days to join our expert safari guides on morning and afternoon game drives to take it all in! Meals B+L+D

Day 23 – Out of Africa

After an early morning game drive, you’ll be escorted to the airstrip for your flight to Arusha. After lunch in town, transfer to the Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward flight. Meals B+L
